General / Federal Educational Information
The following endorsement codes are recognized at the federal level. State procedures, fees, testing steps, restrictions, and application processes may vary. Always verify with your state licensing agency.
Required to operate double or triple trailers. A knowledge test is required. A skills test is not required for the T endorsement at the federal level.
Required to operate a vehicle designed to carry 16 or more passengers (including the driver). A knowledge test and a skills/road test in the appropriate vehicle are required.
Required to operate a vehicle designed to transport liquid or gaseous materials in a tank with a rated capacity of 1,000 gallons or more. A knowledge test is required.
Required to transport hazardous materials requiring placarding. A knowledge test and a TSA Security Threat Assessment are required. ELDT from a registered provider is required.
A combination of the Tank (N) and Hazardous Materials (H) endorsements. Knowledge tests for both tank and hazmat are required, plus the TSA Security Threat Assessment for the hazmat portion.
Required to operate a school bus. A knowledge test and a skills/road test in a school bus are required. ELDT from a registered provider is required.
